Trump-Linked World Liberty Financial to Test Airdrop System with Stablecoin Giveaway

World Liberty Financial (WLFI), the Trump family-connected DeFi project, is looking to do an airdrop of its USD1 stablecoin for early adopters.
In a proposal put before the cryptocurrency’s governing decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) on April 7, World Liberty Financial suggested “distributing a small amount of USD1 to all current WLFI token holders.”
The primary goal is to test WLFI’s airdrop infrastructure. Another reason is to “thank our earliest supporters and introduce them to USD1,” the proposal said. World Liberty Financial will cover the cost of the airdrop, with the exact amount given out to be determined by the budget and number of eligible wallets.
The airdrop will be distributed on the Ethereum mainnet.
While the details have not yet been fleshed out, it seems like all wallet holders will get the same amount of USD1, regardless of how much WLFI they hold.
Responses to the proposal on the DAO governance forum were almost uniformly positive.
“Airdropping a stablecoin represents an unconventional but strategic move,” said Todd Ruoff, CEO of Autonomys, in an email. “Stablecoins typically gain traction through reliability and transparency of collateral as opposed to promotional giveaways.”
“By distributing tokens to existing WLFI holders, they hope to expand their user base, generate liquidity, and incentivize integrations with other projects in the ecosystem. World Liberty likely views this as a marketing cost of doing business in DeFi, where visibility isn’t free, and neither is success,” he added
So far, WLFI is non-transferrable, making attracting new users an important consideration.
World Liberty Financial remains a politically divisive project due to its strong ties to the President and his financial interests in the WLFI token, which have outraged Democrats, most notably Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and California Rep. Maxine Waters. Both have demanded that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission provide them with all records relating to WLFI.
