The crypto community is celebrating a court ruling finding that secondary cryptocurrency trades do not comprise the exchange of unlicensed securities. Judge Amy Berman Jackson, the judge overseeing the SEC’s case against Binance, notably dismissed the SEC’s charges concerning secondary BNB trades while allowing charges concerning the token’s ICO to proceed.

However, the ruling coincided with the SEC filing a lawsuit against Consensys, alleging its MetaMask wallet violated securities laws by facilitating access to top liquid staking protocols Lido and Rocket Pool.

Plus, Aave appears on track to launch its v4 iteration in 2025, and crypto markets bounce amid bullish Ether ETF expectations.

🚨SEC Targets Ethereum Liquid Staking

Liquid staking tokens have fallen within the crosshairs of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The SEC sued Consensys for alleged securities violations over its MetaMask wallet facilitating access to liquid staking via Lido and Rocket Pool.

ZkVerify is a dedicated zero-knowledge proof verification network designed for settlement optimization, built by Horizen Labs.

zkVerify is uniquely architected as the first modular solution for the settlement layer that collapses security costs by decoupling proof verification from settlement on L1s.

Horizen Labs estimates $47 million was spent on proof verification in 2023 for zkrollups on Ethereum alone, and industry studies anticipate zk proof generation will become a $10 billion market by the year 2030. zkVerify removes the cost and complexity of computationally intensive proof verification for developers building with zkrollups. At the outset, zkVerify can be used to verify proofs on Ethereum and Bitcoin with a 90%+ cost reduction, and will rapidly expand to support multiple blockchain architectures.
