LA Vape Cabal Member Announces Departure From DeGods NFT Project

Rohun Vora, also known as Frank DeGods in the crypto community, returned from social media hiatus on Monday, May 12, to announce in an X thread that he is stepping away from the DeGods NFT project.

Following a multi-month hiatus on X, Vora returned yesterday to post for the first time since mid-February: “Today is my last day as ceo of DeGods. My chapter is closing, but the story isn't over. @0x_chill & @pastagotsauce will be taking over.”

Vora, as well as some other members of the “LA Vape Cabal” — a group of influencers and traders that focused heavily on memecoins in 2024 — took unexpected breaks from social media following the LIBRA memecoin scandal, which involved Argentina’s President, Javier Milei.

There is no proof that the group had any involvement in the launch or downfall of the LIBRA token, but they were still subjected to heavy criticism after rumors emerged that the group potentially had insider knowledge of the token launch. Vora clarified in the same X thread yesterday that “I'm not "on the run". There are no investigations, because I have never done anything illegal. That's the boring truth.”

One of the new project leads, known as Pasta, posted in the NFT project’s Discord “in the coming weeks, we’re releasing something for the people still here–an homage to the last three years and everything we built together. after that, things will look different.”

Vora founded DeGods in 2021 at the height of the Ethereum NFT craze, but launched the collection on Solana originally. DeGods eventually expanded to Ethereum not long after the collapse of FTX, and launched its second collection known as Y00ts on Polygon.

The collection has two tokens, DUST and DEGOD, which are down 99% and 87% from their all-time highs. DeGods NFTs currently trade for 0.53 ETH, down 95% from its all-time high of roughly 10 ETH.
