Cosmos’ Shared Security Model Gets Vote Of Confidence

TLDR Neutron, a smart contract platform geared towards DeFi, has proposed to outsource its security to the Cosmos Hub, a major blockchain worth over $3B. If the proposal passes next week, Neutron would become the first chain to use Replicated Security. The Cosmos Hub will receive 25% of transaction fees and miner extractable value (MEV) from the Neutron chain, as well as 7% of the supply of its NTRN tokens.

SO WHAT Cosmos’ approach offers a potential solution to the security challenges faced by new blockchain projects. With Neutron and Stride potentially set to use the model, it may become easier for businesses to safely launch “consumer chains” in the Cosmos ecosystem.

Google Cloud Boosts Web3 Presence With Polygon Partnership

TLDR Google’s new partnership with Polygon and expansion of its web3 accelerator program demonstrate the tech giant’s continued commitment to the web3 industry. Through its partnership with Polygon, Google Cloud will offer its Blockchain Node Engine to Polygon PoS Chain node operators, providing tooling and infrastructure for developers building on Polygon’s scaling solutions.

SO WHAT Google’s continued involvement in the blockchain industry may help to accelerate the adoption of Web3 technologies and bring greater legitimacy to the sector.

Arbitrum Teams Up With AltLayer In Layer 3 Push

TLDR AltLayer, a web3 infrastructure provider, has been chosen by Arbitrum to be the first rollups-as-a-service provider supporting Orbit, its Layer 3 solution which allows developers to build custom blockchains. AppChains offer greater customization and security compared to Layer 2 solutions, and can be secured by Layer 2 networks, inheriting the security guarantees of the underlying Layer 1 network.
