Clanker Gives Rise To AI Memecoin Boom On Base

The AI memecoin boom has arrived on Base.

On Nov. 26, the fees generated by Clanker, an AI agent built to launch tokens on Base in response to text-based prompts, tagged an all-time high of $1.2 million, according to Dune. Since launching on Nov. 8, the project has accumulated $7.1 million worth of fees.

Nearly 23,000 users interacted with Clanker over the past 24 hours — equating to 30% of its cumulative user base — driving $77.7 million worth of trades.

Clanker deploys tokens based on text prompts from users interacting with the AI agent. Users on Farcaster, an OP mainnet-based decentralized social media platform, can interact with the agent via its @clanker handle.

Clanker was created by Jack Dishman, the full-stack engineer of Farcaster, and Proxy, a Farcaster-based venture studio.

On Nov. 26, Proxy announced that Clanker's contracts will soon be updated to allow users to claim 40% of the fees generated by tokens issued by Clanker, incentivizing further adoption of the protocol.

Clanker’s success appears to have driven an uptick in transaction volumes on Base. Data from GrowThePie shows that Base’s daily transaction count based on a seven-day rolling average jumped 25% to 8.35 million from 6.70 million on Nov. 8.

Clanker tokens

Users have created more than 3,500 tokens via the agent, including three assets that have amassed eight-figure market caps in Luminous (LUM), Anoncast (ANON), and Tokenbot (CLANKER)

CLANKER was the first token launched by Clanker and has since emerged as the largest asset created by the protocol. CLANKER boasts a capitalization of $92.3 million, down from a high of $141.6 million on Nov. 27, according to CoinGecko.

LUM attracted attention after being created through collaboration between AI agents. Naaate, a Farcaster user, proposed the token to the aethernet AI agent, which suggested leveraging Clanker to “bring it to life.” LUM’s market cap is $36.4 million, down from an all-time high of $56.5 million on Nov. 23.

ANON is the token underpinning anoncast, an anonymous social application on Base, which requires users to hold ANON in order to access the application. ANON garnered attention after Vitalik Buterin, the chief scientist of Ethereum, and Jesse Pollak, the creator of Base, purchased the token. ANON’s capitalization currently sits at $33.6 million after tagging a high of $53.4 million on Nov. 22.

On Nov. 26, Anoncast integrated support for Clanker, allowing users to anonymously create tokens via the AI agent.
