Pudgy Toys Launch in 2,000 U.S. Walgreens Stores

One of Ethereum’s most popular NFT collections, Pudgy Penguins, has inked a deal with Walgreens to sell its physical toys in 2,000 stores across the U.S.
This adds a retailer with $147 billion in 2024 revenue to a short but notable list of vendors offering Pudgy Toys to their customers. The toy collection is already available in Walmart, Target, and Amazon, three of the largest retailers in the world.
“We're thrilled to continue expanding our presence in the retail space, allowing fans of all ages to connect with our characters in a new, tangible way,” said Luca Netz, CEO of Pudgy Penguins, in a press release. “Pudgy Penguins has always been about making a positive impact on people's lives, and it's this connection that has brought us to where we are today—building a brand that brings joy, spreads good vibes, and resonates with fans across the globe."
Pudgy Penguins are trading for 9.13 ETH ($23,000) after a slight 1.3% drop today. Although the NFT market has suffered a dizzying drop in interest from traders, Penguins are up 85% in 2024, likely off the back of partnerships with big-name retailers like Walgreens.

The Pudgy Penguins team explained that the toys sold starting today in Walgreens were fully licensed using OverpassIP, the firm's NFT licensing platform.
In May, Netz touted that more than 1 million toys had been sold. “Who would've thought that the Consumer Crypto revolution was going to be led by fat flightless birds,” he said.
