Crypto Smartphone Wars: XForge Aims to Compete With Solana Seeker

An Ethereum Layer 3 network dubbed XProtocol plans to release a gaming smartphone later this year. It’s built on Base, the booming Coinbase-built Layer 2 blockchain.
The Android phone, dubbed XForge, is touted as the world’s first “DePIN phone” and is priced at $299 with 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. XForge will use XProtocol to earn rewards and participate in airdrop campaigns.
XProtocol added that 10% of its token supply will go to XForge owners, with 1 Xardian node included for the first 10,000 devices, alongside a 20% bonus on node rewards and exclusive airdrops.
Pre-orders are coming soon, the team said.
Clash of the Crypto Phones
XProtocol’s unveiling comes only a week after Solana Mobile announced a second Web3 phone, dubbed the Seeker. It comes with a native hardware seed vault and mobile wallet and enables payments, DeFi, DePIN, NFTs, and gaming.
Each Solana Seeker generates a non-transferrable Seeker Genesis Token, which will unlock exclusive rewards, boosts, access, and content throughout the Solana ecosystem. Buyers have to dish out $500 to receive the phone in 2025.
Alongside the Seeker and XForge, Jambo launched a $99 Solana-based phone on Sept. 20. JamboPhone 2s come with real-time data ingestion, in-built large language models (LLMs), and are supposedly “fine-tuned with crypto knowledge.”
