Drift Protocol Season 2 Airdrop Scheduled for May 2025

Drift Protocol, Solana’s ninth-largest decentralized finance (DeFi) platform by total value locked (TVL), announced in a Jan. 1 X post that its Drift airdrop season 2 will commence on May 2025.
This will be the second airdrop from the perpetuals trading decentralized exchange (DEX). The DRIFT price hasn’t changed much since the announcement, dropping 1% in the past day, according to Coingecko data.

Drift's first airdrop took place in May 2024. It distributed 120 million DRIFT tokens, roughly 12% of its total supply, to approximately 150,000 eligible wallets, which included early adopters, active traders, network keepers, and other contributors to the network.
It also featured a bonus for users who waited to claim in a bid to reduce network congestion and spread out claims. The longer the wait, the higher the bonus.
The design of the upcoming airdrop is not yet known, but it will likely involve FUEL, Drift’s first onchain loyalty program. Users earn FUEL when they perform various actions throughout the Drift ecosystem, such as trading or staking.
On Dec. 31, Drift released an end-of-the-year review outlining its plans for the coming year.
Some highlighted milestones include hitting $55 billion in cumulative trading volume, onboarding over 200,000 traders, surpassing $1 billion in daily trading volume after its token generation event (TGE), and peaking at 13 million in daily transactions by February.
