Scroll to Airdrop SCR Tokens on October 22

Ethereum Layer 2 network Scroll has released the details of its highly anticipated airdrop, with a launch date of Oct. 22.
Over 570,000 wallets will be eligible to receive 5.5% of the token supply based on a snapshot taken on Oct. 19. Of that allocation, 4% will go to users who have earned more than 200 “marks,” which are akin to points, 1% will be split evenly between all eligible wallets, and another 0.5% will be a “bonus” for those who met select criteria.
Roughly another 1% will be split amongst “Industry Contributors” whose work and efforts “have played a positive sum game for the entire industry, advancing open-source research, technology, and infrastructure in meaningful ways.” These include entities like DeFiLlama, Gitcoin, and technical contributors.

The airdrop structure has been met with mild dismay from market participants, presumably due to the relatively small supply being airdropped, as well as the flat portion of the airdrop, which rewards sybil accounts over power users.
Upon the release, one user said, “Scroll is a high FDV token that is going to reprice massively lower. Any semblance of chain use is merely airdrop farming. There is no organic growth or PMF. No killer apps and no liquidity.”
Scroll’s total value locked stands at $1 billion, a 13% decrease from its all-time high of $1.25 billion, making it the 12th largest chain according to DeFiLlama.
