MegaETH Launches Public Testnet, Claims To Be Faster Than Base, Monad

Upcoming Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) MegaETH has launched its public testnet, claiming its throughput is 50 times faster than competitors such as Base.
The self-proclaimed “real-time blockchain’ aims to be the most performant in DeFi, touting 10 millisecond block times, 20,000 transactions per second (TPS), and throughput of 1.7 giga gas (Ggas) per second.

The testnet initiative will host 29 different applications, with 16 ready to use on day one, such as decentralized exchanges (DEX) GTE and Vault, and gaming platforms like Awe.
Despite the network’s already high throughput, its roadmap includes two additional upgrades, which will lead to a parallelized architecture with a 30x increase in throughput.
One user known as IcoBeast took to X to praise the testnet experience and said, “So MegaETH is stupid fast…I've been playing around with Noise...and it doesn't even feel like using a chain. Instant/real-time snappiness...This is a gigantic UX improvement (assuming it stays stable). ETH really might have a comeback.”
The network raised $20 million in its seed round, featuring angels such as Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and Consensys CEO Joseph Lubin. MegaETH raised another $10 million via crowdfunding through Echo in December and another $13 million through its official NFT mint in February.
