Robinhood Chain Base Fee Climbed By 23x

Robinhood Chain collected $4.45 million in gas fees on Tuesday, more than Ethereum, Solana and Tron combined.

Eleven days earlier the network took in roughly $54,000. The base fee has since climbed to 23 times its 0.02 gwei floor as memecoin and tokenized-stock flow filled block space, and Robinhood is absorbing the cost inside its own wallet app until Sept. 29, so Robinhood is funding the record its users are setting.

A chain out-earning Ethereum while one company pays its users' fees has a revenue line with an expiry date. The repricing has already spread down the stack to Pons, to LIT and to a terminal business that just cleared its first billion-dollar day since January 2025. On Sept. 29 the subsidy stops, and the market finds out how much of this volume was ever price-sensitive.

Robinhood Chain Gas Fees Jump 82-Fold In 11 Days To Top Every Other Chain

Robinhood Chain users paid $4.45 million in gas on Sept. 2, 82 times the network's total on Aug. 22 and more than any other blockchain that day. The base fee reached 23 times its 0.02 gwei floor as trading through Pons and the terminals routing order flow onto the chain filled blocks. Robinhood absorbs the fee inside its own wallet app through Sept. 29, which keeps most retail users from ever seeing the number they generate.

Why this matters: Gas at $4.45 million a day makes Arbitrum's 10% license cut the DAO's largest income line, and it rests on fees one company is currently paying on its users' behalf.

Bitcoin Retakes $80,000 After Waller Signals A Hold

Bitcoin traded back above $80,000 on Sept. 3 after Fed Governor Christopher Waller said he would be inclined to support leaving rates unchanged this month if the next two weeks of data hold. Polymarket odds on a September increase fell to 43% from 59% on Wednesday. Bitcoin rose 4.8% on the day, gold 2% and the S&P 500 0.46%.

Why this matters: Bitcoin moved more than twice as far as gold on the same Waller sentence, which is the cleanest read available on where leveraged macro money still sits.

Trading Terminals Post First $1 Billion Day Since January 2025

Crypto trading terminals settled more than $1 billion of volume in a single day on Sept. 2, the first time since January 2025. GMGN took almost half of that, and 91% of its trades settled on Robinhood Chain. The terminal business grew up routing Solana memecoin flow; the venue feeding it now is two months old.

Why this matters: A billion-dollar terminal day concentrated on one chain means the fee spike and the volume have the same source, and both depend on Robinhood keeping the subsidy on.

Uniswap Labs Bought Pons Token for 'Long-Term Alignment'

Pons said Uniswap Labs bought PONS "for long-term alignment," four weeks after Uniswap Labs opened a rival launchpad on Robinhood Chain that out-launched Pons on its first day. Neither side disclosed the size, the price or the wallet. Pons still takes the larger share of launchpad fees on the chain.

Why this matters: A buyer who launched a competitor four weeks ago now owns a stake in the incumbent, and the undisclosed size is the part the market will have to price.

Lighter Leads Perp DEX Token Rally

LIT rose 13% to $4.21 and has doubled in 30 days on expectations that Lighter will open perpetuals to U.S. traders. Lighter has filed no CFTC registration. Robinhood order flow now supplies 17% of the exchange's daily volume, which ties the token's rally to the same chain driving this week's fee record.

Why this matters: Traders are paying a premium for a U.S. opening that has no filing behind it, while the volume actually arriving comes from Robinhood's order flow.
