Farmmi sells dried mushrooms and trades bulk cotton and corn out of Lishui, in Zhejiang province, and has until February 2027 to close above a dollar for ten straight sessions or lose its Nasdaq listing. On Wednesday its shares traded as high as $0.50 from Tuesday's $0.1187 close, up as much as 321%, on 806 million shares against a 5.2 million daily average. The buying started with a memecoin named after a mushroom variety in the company's own annual report.
Money Mushroom trades against a FAMI token on Robinhood Chain that one wallet minted in a single transaction, kept 38% of, and has spent two days repricing through a contract it deployed itself. Robinhood has never issued a Farmmi stock token. Its real tokenized stocks are issued by a Jersey entity with an authorized participant who can mint and redeem, which helps keep their prices near the share price.
Traders on that chain have spent two months trying to make a memecoin move an equity. BONER held 53% of the tokenized Hims & Hers float in August and the stock never budged. It worked on a company with 37.4 million shares outstanding, against a wrapper with no issuer and no redemption.

'Money Mushroom' Moved A Nasdaq Penny Stock, But Its 'Tokenized Stock' Is A Memecoin Too
The FAMI token at the center of Wednesday's trading has two mint events in its entire history, both inside the transaction that created the contract, and supply has not moved since. The deployer kept 14,223,400 tokens, 38% of the 37,430,000 total, and has since created six pools, modified liquidity seven times through Uniswap's PositionManager, and called reprice twice on a contract it wrote itself called PoolRepricer. Robinhood's genuine stock tokens carry the issuer in the name and hold supply in the thousands; its HIMS token has 2,215 mint events and 30 burns against FAMI's two. FAMI reached $1.83 in its USDG pool at 10:45 a.m. ET, the same five-minute bar in which the Nasdaq stock set its $0.50 high, and traded at $0.2135 at 2:28 p.m., 45% above the equity, on $131.4 million of pool volume across 126,565 transactions. Money Mushroom itself went 85 times off its first print, then gave back 92%.
![]() | 'Money Mushroom' Moved A Nasdaq Penny Stock, But Its 'Tokenized Stock' Is A Memecoin TooThe FAMI token that Money Mushroom trades against on Robinhood Chain is not a Robinhood stock token. Its 37,430,000 supply, close to Farmmi's entire share count, was minted in a single transaction by a wallet that kept 38% and now runs a contract named PoolRepricer to manage the price.thedefiant.io |
Why this matters: Farmmi needs ten consecutive closes above $1.00 to cure its listing deficiency. Its token cleared the line for 45 minutes; the shares got halfway there.

21 Financial Institutions Commit to Joint Stablecoin Venture
Twenty-one banks and asset managers said Tuesday they will incorporate a jointly backed company in the second half of 2026 to issue a dollar stablecoin, targeting a market launch in the first half of 2027 and the euro after that. The release names no chief executive, no ownership split, no company name, no blockchain, no custodian and no reserve manager, and carries no quotes from any of the 21. Eight of the ten banks that said in October 2025 they were studying the idea are on the new list; Barclays and BNP Paribas are gone, and thirteen firms joined, among them Capital One, Fidelity Investments, Wells Fargo, WisdomTree, BBVA and Standard Bank. Six of the 21 are also backing The Clearing House's tokenized deposit network, which targets the same half-year. JPMorgan, furthest along in tokenized deposits with JPMD, is absent. Circle closed down 6.35% at $89.48.
Why this matters: Tether and Circle hold 83% of a $310 billion market. The consortium has a target date and a member list, and no product for eighteen months.

Nomura's Laser Digital Moves Into DeFi Fixed Income
Nomura's digital asset arm will act as risk governor for institutional lending markets built on Keyring Network's infrastructure, with the first ones readied for Euler Finance. Keyring supplies access verification, quantitative risk parameterisation and liquidation design, and Laser Digital's asset management division contributes governance standards and portfolio structuring, assigned contract by contract. Neither firm disclosed committed capital, fee terms, a launch date or a named borrower. Euler is in the release but did not issue it, and holds $368.8 million of value locked against $555.4 million of outstanding borrows across 17 chains, most of it on Monad at $240.6 million. The protocol earned $1.48 million in fees over 30 days and $47,132 of protocol revenue. Its founding chief executive, Michael Bentley, stepped down in January as Euler refocused on institutions.
Why this matters: Allocators have wanted a named firm accountable for DeFi lending risk. Nomura taking that seat is worth more to Euler right now than capital neither side has quantified.

SEC Proposes Transfer Agent Rules for Blockchain-Based Share Records
The SEC proposed rewriting its transfer agent rules on Sept. 1, setting a single retention period for most records, modernizing the provisions governing electronic systems and third-party recordkeepers, and naming blockchain recordkeeping and uncertificated securities among the technologies the rules would cover. A rewritten Rule 17ad-12 would require written policies to safeguard securities and funds and to identify, measure, monitor and mitigate operational risk, plus a business continuity plan and a separate bank account for issuer, securityholder and third-party funds. The proposing release treats blockchain data integrity and distributed-ledger operating models as risks agents must manage, and says the current rules are silent on information security and disaster recovery. Chair Paul Atkins, Hester Peirce and Mark Uyeda voted to approve. Comments run 60 days from Federal Register publication, which had not happened as of Wednesday.
Why this matters: A 2025 staff FAQ already let a transfer agent keep the master securityholder file onchain. Writing that into a Commission rule is what tokenized share registries were waiting for.

Bitcoin Holds $77,000 After Weak Hiring Print
Private employers added 38,000 jobs in August, ADP reported Wednesday, down from 44,000 in July, and Polymarket's odds of a quarter-point increase at the Sept. 15-16 meeting went up, to 59% from 57%. A cut of any size trades below 1%. Bitcoin last changed hands at $77,038, down 1.0% over 24 hours after a $76,298 low. Ether was at $2,392.94, XRP fell 2.59% to $1.33, Solana dropped 2.34% to $99.02 while holding a weekly gain, and BNB was flat at $686.17. Eighty-four of the 125 largest non-stablecoin tokens fell. The 10-year Treasury closed Tuesday at 4.79%, its highest since Jan. 13, 2025, the Nasdaq 100 fell 1.29% and gold rose 0.84% to $4,365.11. Pyth led the gainers with nothing dated to the move, and Pons gave back 12.6% of a 235% week.
Why this matters: Weak hiring once meant a rate-cut trade. A 20-month high in yields alongside a gold bid says the market is pricing inflation, and bitcoin is sitting it out.
