X Adds US 'Trade' Button to Cashtags With Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini

X launched a U.S. Cashtag Partner Program on Sept. 15 that connects supported stock, ETF and cryptocurrency pages to Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo.
The new “Trade” option does not execute a transaction on X. A user taps a Cashtag to see its price chart and related posts, selects a participating brokerage, and continues to that firm’s app or website. The user then logs in or opens an account and completes the transaction directly at the brokerage.
Asset Coverage Varies by Partner
X described all five firms as available “at launch.” Its announcement said the feature works with “supported” Cashtags for stocks, ETFs and cryptocurrencies, while partner posts supplied more detail about some routes.
Gemini said its X connection covers stocks and five named cryptocurrencies: ZEC, HYPE, BTC, ETH and SOL.
Kraken said U.S. users can tap “any crypto cashtag” to go directly to Kraken. In a follow-up, the exchange promoted access to more than 2,400 tokens. The 2,400 figure is Kraken’s stated token catalog, rather than a Cashtag count supplied by X.
X named Coinbase among the launch partners. Moomoo’s launch guide described moving from a stock conversation on X to the ticker on Moomoo, while Interactive Brokers told users they could trade an asset spotted on X through IBKR.
Partners Complete the Transaction
X’s documented workflow consists of finding an asset, viewing its Cashtag page and tapping a brokerage partner. X says the transaction is then completed directly at that brokerage. Under that flow, X does not execute a market, limit or other order; it provides the step that sends the user to the selected firm.
For Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini, the program creates a path from supported Cashtag pages to their services after users view price charts and related posts. Existing customers can continue to their brokerage accounts, while new users can be taken to account signup. X described the product as connecting ticker discovery and conversation to “taking action with a brokerage.”
The final steps remain with the selected partner: account access and transaction completion happen through the brokerage’s mobile app or web experience.
