Barça Mobile Plans Stellar Wallet With Wirex and Crossmint

Barça Mobile, FC Barcelona’s official mobile telecom service operated by New Era Visionary Group, is developing an in-app digital wallet using infrastructure from Wirex, Crossmint and the Stellar Development Foundation.
New Era announced the partnerships on Aug. 5. Its announcement described the wallet as an integrated feature of the existing Barça Mobile app rather than a standalone product, intended to bring connectivity, payments, loyalty benefits and travel services into one interface.
Wirex will provide payment and card infrastructure for future wallet-linked payment features. Crossmint will supply wallet infrastructure and user-onboarding technology, while Stellar will serve as the wallet’s blockchain network layer.
“By integrating wallet functionality directly into the Barça Mobile app, we are not launching a separate product or a new line of business,” New Era CEO Ruslan Bîrlădeanu said.
An Expansion Beyond Travel eSIMs
In an April 2025 launch announcement, FC Barcelona presented Barça Mobile as a mobile virtual network operator developed with New Era. Its first product was a Global Travel eSIM offering internet connectivity in more than 170 countries. The club also said planned telephone and fiber services in Spain would use Orange network infrastructure.
The wallet plan would extend that connectivity-focused app into payments and rewards. New Era’s announcement described the work as development, and said Wirex would help enable future wallet-linked payment experiences.
Barça Mobile’s current U.S. App Store listing presents it as a travel eSIM app, advertises connectivity in more than 200 destinations and lists version 2.5.0 as released on Aug. 3.
