Teneo Protocol Launches AI Agent Testnet

Teneo Protocol, the decentralized network of autonomous AI agents, has officially launched the first phase of its AI Agent Testnet — a key step toward building a decentralized infrastructure for AI.

With this launch, community-run AI agents on Teneo are now live. These agents operate in real time, collecting and processing public data streams from across the open web, directly from users’ browsers. In return, users powering the network earn rewards. The testnet introduces a new era of decentralized, user-owned AI, powered by the community and secured by the layer-1 blockchain peaq.

Unlike traditional AI systems, which rely on centralized infrastructure controlled by major tech companies, Teneo’s agents run via a lightweight browser extension called the Teneo Community Node. Any user can install the extension and instantly turn their browser into a Teneo node — enabling it to host an agent, search the web, and extract publicly available information. These agents retrieve, structure, and analyze open data, contributing to a trustless, permissionless network designed to democratize access to real-time insights.

The testnet features two operating modes:

  • Observer Mode: The agent collects public signals while the user browses.
  • Autonomous Mode: The agent independently navigates the web to gather public data.

To protect user privacy, Teneo agents only access public data streams and never interact with private messages, DMs, or personal activity. All processing stays on the user’s device unless they actively choose to share it. Transparency is built into the system — and control stays with the user.

All agent activity is visible through a new Agent Insights tab on the Teneo Dashboard, where users can track and download their contributions at any time.

Access to the testnet is currently limited and granted through Teneo’s “Golden Ticket” NFT, which enables early users to start experimenting. After reaching a certain milestone — processing 10,000 data signals — users receive three additional tickets to invite others, keeping testnet growth community-driven.

The broader goal of Teneo Protocol is to level the playing field for AI innovation. In a landscape where data is hoarded and monetized by a handful of powerful players, Teneo offers an open alternative — one where anyone can contribute to and benefit from the value of real-time digital signals. With more than 6 million users and over 15 million daily data transfers, Teneo is turning a once-speculative vision for decentralized AI into a functioning reality.

“This is the moment where the Node starts being real,” said Leroy Hofer, CEO of Teneo Protocol. “We connected the world — with millions powering the Teneo Community Node. Now, it’s time to unleash its full potential.”

As Teneo enters Phase 3 of its roadmap, this launch marks a foundational shift in how AI systems are built, operated, and owned — moving power away from tech giants and toward the people fueling the future of data.
