Puffer Partners with Google Cloud to Power Puffer UniFi’s Real-Time Ethereum Infrastructure

Google Cloud joins as a key infrastructure partner for Puffer UniFi, operating a gateway through Puffer Preconf to deliver sub-second execution backed by Ethereum

Puffer Finance has announced that Google Cloud has joined as a gateway operator in Puffer Preconf, a preconfirmation (preconf) service that delivers sub-second transaction preconfs for Ethereum rollups. Puffer UniFi will be the first rollup to use Google Cloud’s gateway for transaction processing and preconfirmations.

Puffer UniFi is Puffer’s high-performance Ethereum execution stack, built to deliver real-time execution while remaining synchronously composable with Ethereum.

The integration makes Google Cloud one of the first major cloud infrastructure providers to actively operate within Ethereum’s preconf and rollup ecosystem.

Google Cloud brings enterprise-grade reliability and geographic diversity. Rollups and appchains can select either gateway individually or combine them for added resilience. Starting with Puffer UniFi, this gives rollups access to Google Cloud’s infrastructure for transaction processing and sub-second preconfirmations.

Puffer Preconf addresses a core limitation of based rollups, a new class of Ethereum rollups that use Ethereum validators for transaction sequencing instead of centralized sequencers. While based rollups inherit Ethereum’s security and decentralization, they are constrained to Ethereum’s 12-second block times. Puffer Preconf’s gateway layer provides near-instant execution preconfirmations, backed by restaked ETH and economic security. If any gateway fails to honor a preconfirmation commitment, a slashing mechanism compensates affected parties, providing credible downside protection.

With sub-second confirmations from multiple gateway providers, Puffer Preconf makes it practical for developers to build applications, AI agents, and rollups that compose across the Ethereum ecosystem with near-instant finality. Puffer UniFi will be the first rollup to put Google Cloud’s gateway infrastructure into use, combining high-performance execution with fast preconfirmations before final settlement on Ethereum. This composability is particularly relevant as agentic commerce accelerates. AI agents executing high-frequency, time-sensitive transactions onchain need the speed and finality guarantees that Puffer Preconf’s gateway layer provides.
