Fartcoin Climbed to a Record Market Cap of $850M as Memecoins Ride the Popularity Wave

Fartcoin, the Solana memecoin endorsed by artificial intelligence (AI) agent Trust Terminal, surged to a record $850 million market capitalization early Monday.

The memecoin reached an all-time high of $0.891 earlier this morning, before retracing to $0.78, reflecting a 137% increase in the past 30 days, according to CoinGecko data. . The spike led to a market capitalization of over $850 million, less than $150 million shy of crossing the $1 billion threshold.

This growth is a significant achievement for the comedic cryptocurrency, which has gained traction through strong community support after AI agent Truth Terminal birthed the idea of Fartcoin, and the memecoin space took advantage of the opportunity to create the token. The rapid rise of Fartcoin underscores a growing trend in the cryptocurrency market where humor, community engagement, and viral appeal are driving value creation.

“Humor, novelty, algorithms, and a lot of hot air are driving Fartcoin's surge as well as the lift in other memecoins following on the heels of Bitcoin's record rise and president-elect Trump's victory,” said Michael Ashley Schulman, Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Running Point Capital Advisors.

Jokes and Gas Fee

He added that Fartcoin's unique approach, allowing users to submit fart jokes or memes in exchange for tokens, has created significant buzz, generating positive PR and community engagement.

Schulman also highlighted Fartcoin's distinctive “Gas Fee” feature, where every transaction triggers a digital fart sound. This playful innovation not only entertains users but also sets Fartcoin apart from traditional cryptocurrencies, further driving its popularity.

"The Fartcoin phenomenon is a true reflection of broader retail and 'normie' awareness reaching the crypto industry,” Garrison Yang, co-founder of Mirai Labs, echoed. “Crypto is a highly reflexive and 'attention economy-aligned' asset class, and Fartcoin is the perfect representation of just how weird crypto culture is, while still being approachable and politically correct enough for mainstream media to cover it.”

Fartcoin is the latest memecoin inspired by Truth Terminal, an artificial intelligence (AI) agent known for also inspiring the GOAT memecoin.

“As we've seen with AI memecoins, some of them have meaningful utility or purpose beyond simply being a speculative culture coin–I expect to see more of these pop up representing different forms of products and media, including games, consumer applications, and beyond,” Yang said.

Fartcoin is currently trading at $0.7853 with a market capitalization of $788 million.
