AI Agent Tokens Dip Amid Market Correction

The faster rise, the harder they fall. Tokens at the intersection of cryptocurrencies and artificial intelligence (AI) are the worst-performing category in crypto in an already bad day for the sector.

The Virtuals Protocol Ecosystem is down by more than 14% in the past 24 hours, the worst-performing CoinGecko category, while Ai Agent Launchpad tokens has had the second-largest losses, down by more than 11%. Ai Agents is the fifth-worst performing, down 8.7%.

Artificial Superintelligence Alliance, a combination of three AI projects (Fetch.ai, Ocean Protocol, and SingularityNET) and the largest AI Agent token by market cap, is down by 8.6% today.

The second and third largest, Virtuals Protocol and AI16Z, are down 11% and 5%, respectively. Freysa AI and aixbt by Virtuals, the fourth and fifth largest, are down 17% and 18%, respectively.

Likewise, Goatseus Maximus, the memecoin that started the AI meta, has also suffered from the recent price dip, falling 42.5% in the past week and 14.9% in the last 24 hours.

Macro connection

“AI Agents are dipping extensively along with the entire crypto market, specifically SOL, which is down around 5.5% today due to reactions to strong payroll data in the US hinting at even lower chances of a rate cut,” said Chris Chung, CEO and co-founder of Titan Exchange.

Today’s correction comes after AI-related tokens surged to become one of the hottest sectors in crypto. In the three months since GOAT launched, the AI agents category has grown to an all-time high market cap of $20 billion.

The development comes as the crypto community is still reeling from the fumbled token launch of Aiccelerator, where advisors were spotted selling their tokens soon after launch.

Dragonfly Managing Director Haseeb Qureshi predicted that the current AI Agent hype will die out by the end of 2025.
