Jambo, Silencio, and peaq Team Up to Bring Mobile-First DePINs to the Developing World

Layer-1 blockchain peaq unveils a major collaboration with Jambo, the world’s largest onchain mobile service, to provide the Silencio app pre-installed on all JamboPhone 2 devices.

The collaboration aims to increase the adoption of decentralized physical infrastructure (DePIN) and make DePIN immediately accessible across the world.

Jambo’s JamboPhone 2, which went live in January, will now ship with Silencio pre-installed, allowing JamboPhone 2 owners to instantly interact with DePIN. Two other mobile-first DePIN applications on peaq will soon follow suit.

Silencio is a decentralized environmental intelligence platform, which leverages peaq to quantify noise pollution by using smartphones as decentralized noise sensors.

Users who buy the JamboPhone 2 can start measuring local noise pollution data via Silencio and begin earning offchain coins on the Silencio app. These coins are later converted into tickets to a raffle which will see SLC tokens distributed amongst winners, allowing holders to potentially earn rewards for their activity.

Jambohas distributed more than 650,000 phones across 128 different countries, with their phone owners generating more than 4.5 million total wallets.

Jambo’s DePIN initiative will also see two other DePINs on peaq, which are yet to be unveiled, pre-installed on the phones and placed in a dedicated “peaq” folder. This will give Jambo phone holders instant access to a beginner-friendly DePIN ecosystem and provide a beginner-friendly entry point into the Machine Economy.
