AquaSave Migrates to peaq to Enhance Water Savings via DePIN

AquaSave, a water sustainability DePIN changing the way we preserve our planet’s most vital resource—water, is migrating from Solana to DePIN-focused layer-1 peaq to decentralize water saving.
AquaSave provides users with AquaBank monitors, which recirculate water through pipes in order to save on both water and energy consumption. The device connects to users’ pipes, and keeps heated water in circulation. This reduces the workload of a boiler or hot water heater, and allows users to save an estimated 24% on water and electricity bills.
The product does not require any construction work for installation and can quickly detect and flag issues like water leaks.

The non-Web3 version of this device, patented by Alfonso Cuervo-Arango, who is part of the AquaSave founding team, has been on the market for about a decade. With AquaSave, the device is now getting an upgrade that will bring it onchain.
The startup already has 10 AquaBanks up and running, and is slated to launch an official pilot project in collaboration with the Balearic Islands and AquaReturn, deploying 240 AquaBanks across various businesses in the region. Its technology has also attracted Wilo, a major German water pump manufacturer and distributor, and is expanding globally through new partnerships, making water-saving solutions more accessible worldwide.
As part of its integration with peaq, AquaSave will create self-sovereign IDs for users and devices, ensuring secure, verifiable data. It will also launch its native token on peaq and implement a rewards system, allowing users to earn rewards for sharing their water use data.
The token release date has not been disclosed yet.
Sergio Marquez, the CEO at AquaSave spoke on the migration and said “Sustainability takes all-around transformation, including both households and businesses. AquaSave offers this exact approach…With its focus on everything real-world and a thriving DePIN and enterprise ecosystem, peaq is the perfect layer-1 for bringing this vision to life.”
“The beauty of the DePIN model is in the perfect convergence of all stakeholders’ interests. AquaSave is a great example of that as it turns sustainability, something that often takes additional investment and effort, into a way to actually cut costs for everyone involved. We are thrilled to see it join the peaq ecosystem and look forward to its launch.” said peaq co-founder Leonard Dorlöchter.
