Unique Network Rolls Out Cross-Chain NFT Transfers

The Unique Network unveiled cross-chain NFT transfers on Sept. 18. Cross-chain NFTs, or NFT XCM, are beginning their rollout across Asset Hub and Unique Network for Polkadot-based developers and parachains.

While still in its preliminary stages, developers can register interest through the Unique Network to test NFT XCMs.

Through the NFT XCMs, users will be able to frictionlessly transfer NFTs from one parachain to another, boosting interoperability across the greater Polkadot ecosystem.

Nearly a year into its development, the NFT XCM treasury proposal was finally awarded and executed on Jan. 20, 2024, and the next upgrade to take place will include Core NFT XCM across additional parachains.

DOTphin is released by The Sovereign Nature Initiative

The Sovereign Nature Initiative (SNI), a nonprofit organization blending blockchain and ecology, released its “DOTphin” Orbo NFTs at Token2049 on Sept. 17.

The SNI looks to reshape the approach to research, conservation, and restoration of wildlife ecosystems through blockchain and AI technology.

DOTphin’s are “Eco-evolving” avatars that act as proof-of-presence (PoP) at Token2049. The avatars evolve based on real-world marine conservation efforts tied with SNI’s aqua-marine research partner, Aquasearch, which uses AI to decode communication, migration, and behavior of marine wildlife such as humpback whales.

The 800+ PoP holders from prior events including Polkadot Decoded, Web3 Summit, Web X Asia, and EDCON 2024 are also eligible to claim digital avatars. In addition to partner company efforts, DOTphin NFTs can also evolve based on recurring interaction at real life events hosted by or partnered with SNI.
