Polkadot Introduces Agile Coretime to Enhance Network Efficiency

Multi-blockchain platform Polkadot has released Agile Coretime, a feature that introduces a flexible blockspace model, replacing the traditional static auction system with a dynamic approach that adjusts resource availability based on demand.
According to Eskimor, lead developer at Parity Technologies, which supports Polkadot’s development, the new feature allows for more efficient use of network resources, reducing waste during low activity periods and preventing overload during peak times.
The Polkadot network comprises customizable Layer 1 networks, called parachains, built on top of a base layer known as the Relay chain. Previously, for a parachain to go live, teams had to secure one of the limited parachain slots via an auction, which entailed locking significant amounts of DOT, Polkadot’s native token.
Agile Coretime is expected to lower the barriers to entry for smaller projects by alleviating the requirement for significant initial collateral. Coretime can be purchased in bulk or on demand per a project’s requirements.

DOT is up nearly 6% in the past 24 hours, according to CoinGecko.
