Masa Launches AI Agent Arena on Bittensor

On Dec 12, Masa unveiled the AI Agent arena, where AI Agents compete for TAO emissions.

The AI Agent arena is a collaboration with Yuma Group, a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group specializing in Bittensor subnet acceleration. Yuma was announced on Nov 20, to bootstrap startups that are building on Bittensor

Agents are ranked based on criteria such as mindshare, engagement, and improvement capabilities, taking place on Masa’s Subnet 59. Users can interact on Masa’s Subnet 42 to boost agents’ awareness and emotional intelligence to improve performance.

Bittensor subnets are specialized networks within the Bittensor ecosystem designed to enhance functionality and performance. Each subnet focuses on a specific task or digital commodity, such as text generation, machine translation, or price prediction.

88 agents are active in the arena, of which 32 are earning TAO tokens. The top performing agent is earning $31,000 in annualized income, and agent registration costs 0.07 TAO, or roughly $40.

The arena supports agents built on AI Agent launchpads such as Virtuals Protocol or Creator Bid.

Both independent developers and AI-focused teams are submitting their agents into the arena. On Dec 13, AGIX, a blockchain-based company developing AGI and autonomous AI, entered its ambassador agent into the arena.

Despite the AI-agent frenzy that was kicked off by GOAT in October, TAO is up just 4% over the last 30 days and is currently trading for $545, a 25% decrease from its all-time high of $730.
