Ethereum Foundation Forms New Advisory Council

The Ethereum Foundation has taken the next step in its leadership overhaul.
According to a Feb. 28 X post, the Foundation has set up a new council called the Silviculture Society to provide informal counsel and ensure it is aligned with its core goals.
The Silviculture Society comprises 15 individuals outside the Foundation, including researchers, developers, and project founders. The scope of their responsibilities appears to be ensuring the Foundation sustains its core values of “open source, privacy, security, and censorship resistance.

“The roots of the infinite garden are nourished by soils rich in these core values. Ethereum’s success depends on having talented and committed developers building with these values in mind, and EF’s ethos and work has always been centered around them,” the Foundation said.
The move is part of a restructuring of the Ethereum Foundation following complaints from community members and a call for a change in leadership. On Feb. 25, former executive director Aya Miyaguchi shared in a blog post that she was stepping down from the role to become its President.
The news has not positively impacted the price of Ether, which is down by nearly 5% in the past day amid a market-wide selloff, according to Coingecko data.
