Avalanche Unveils Visa Debit Card

Layer 1 blockchain Avalanche has announced the new Avalanche Card, which will allow users to spend crypto anywhere Visa cards are accepted.

Users can now join the waitlist for the Visa debit card, which will include typical amenities, including physical and digital use, as well as 24/7 customer support. Holders can use the card to spend USDC, wAVAX and sAVAX

Any users who sign up for the Avalanche Card will get a self-custody wallet tied to their accounts, which “will initially be available to individuals who are residents of countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.”

Use of the card will not result in any additional fees; however, Avalanche has cautioned users of the potential tax implications of spending non-stablecoin cryptocurrencies.

The move is Avalanche’s latest in a series of announcements that are integrating the Avalanche blockchain with traditional and institutional use cases, such as California vehicle title transfers and tokenized Treasuries through Franklin Templeton.
