Aptos Outperforms as ‘Reply Guy’ Boosts Mindshare

According to Coingecko data, the price of the high-performant Layer 1 (L1) blockchain Aptos token briefly soared by 20% on Feb. 19, boosting APT’s market capitalization by nearly $700 million.

Surprisingly, the token’s price surge is being attributed to a ‘reply guy’ on X. A reply guy is a term for a person who constantly replies to the tweets of other users with large followings on X.

For the last few months, a pseudonymous X user with the handle “BuzzlamicJihad” and a bio that reads “Aptos GCR” has consistently replied to other users’ X posts with the phrase “Aptos looking good here.”

According to Kaito data shared by X user cryptoswag, Aptos’ mindshare has tripled in the past three days, likely as a result.

One user predicted this in a Jan. 24 X post that said, “There's a guy with 375 followers who's trying to CTO Aptos, and I think the mad man is actually going to pull it off.” BuzzlamicJihad currently has around 7,800 followers.

In a Feb. 19 X post, the co-founder of Sphere Labs noted, “One dude reply guying “aptos looking good here” has basically single-handedly moved it up millions in the last 24hrs.”

In another Feb. 19 X post, Forward Guidance podcast host Felix Jauvin apologized for threatening to block the user.

“Gotta make an apology for threatening to block @BuzzlamicJihad, I was not familiar with his game. Although I do think this ratio of myself was a crucial moment in the lore development,” Jauvin said.

Meanwhile, Pumpfun’s co-founder said in another Feb. 19 X post that the “Aptos CTO is proof that everything in crypto is a memecoin” and that “this fact won't change anytime soon.”
