Gunzilla Games Launches GUN token for ‘Off the Grid’ Battle Royale Game

Gunzilla Games has launched the mainnet for its GUNZ blockchain, home of the battle royale game Off the Grid.

Launching on Playstation, Xbox, and PC, Off the Grid will feature an in-game economy featuring player-owned and tradable NFTs, which can be purchased for GUN tokens.

Winner of the Game of the Year award at the 2024 Gam3 Awards, Off the Grid was created under the creative guidance of Oscar-nominated director Neill Blomkamp, known for District 9 and Elysium.

“Off The Grid presents the industry's best opportunity to demonstrate onchain economies at undeniable scale, and deliver crypto's first truly impactful consumer product,” said Piers Kicks, a founding partner of Delphi Ventures, a backer and validator of the GUNZ blockchain.

It is, he added, “the first onchain game to successfully crack the blueprint for Xbox and PlayStation distribution.”

Created to support Off the Grid, GUNZ is an Avalanche subnet, EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain designed specifically for AAA Web3 gaming.

Fully 30% of Off the Grid’s gross revenues will be used to repurchase GUN tokens for distribution to players based on their in-game performance,” Kicks wrote. Validators will earn fees from the minting of NFT game items, as well as Off the Grid Pro subscriptions and secondary market fees from the resale of NFT items.

The GUN token is trading at a $53 million market capitalization. However, it’s worth noting that only 6% of the GUN supply is currently circulating, giving the project a fully diluted valuation of nearly $900 million, according to Coingecko.
